Experiment with a swatch

I prepare this as a sample to show one method of knitting a right-angle asymmetric shawl. 

An alternative way to work Row 1 and Row 2 would be: Row 1: Knit to last 2 stitches, knit in front & back of second to last stitch (KFB), knit 1, turn. Row 2: Knit all stitches across. In other words, putting the increase at the end of the row instead of at the beginning. Also, my sample was done in purl garter stitch (all purl stitches), not knit garter. 

This sample shows a method similar to this shawl, without step 3 (that is, no decreases, and this shawl used 2 different lace patterns:

 

Second post of the day because the sample above is not at all similar to the Ostrich Plume pattern shawl in ivory linen yarn, which was the first post of the day.
