Here's a photo of some of the hand-spun yarn I will have for sale at the Old North Spring Fling on Saturday - come and find me to see more. This yarn was all hand-spun by a fellow Weavers Guild of St. Louis member and is really beautiful. Prices will vary, but will be $5 off the prices marked per skein. See prior post for more details about the sale, Old North House Tour (same day) and link for more info. The white skein right in the center is hand-spun silk. The others are wool (some marked by sheep breed), alpaca, and blends of natural fibers.

Norah's Knits will be at this sale event on Saturday, May 13th, 2017, 10 to 4. The location is Crown Square, on North 14th Street on the block south of Crown Candy Kitchen (corner of N. 14th and St. Louis Avenue in Old North St. Louis, a few blocks west of I-70 north of downtown St. Louis).  I'll have lighter-weight knitted and crocheted scarves & wraps for sale, along with some hand-crocheted handbags (lined with buttons or magnetic closures). I've been blocking some items that were finished and set aside - including several more blue items -- a shawl/wrap in a sky blue color and a crescent-shaped scarf in a darker blue. The light blue item is an alpaca blend, sport-weight, and the darker one is sock yarn. The medium gray item is a garter-stitch crescent-shaped shawl made from a lovely yarn that seems to be discontinued. It's a lace-weight Suri alpaca blend yarn. I was trying a different method of starting the shawl, casting on 18 stitches at the center back neck rather than 6 stitches. I think it does give a better overall shape to the top edge of the shawl.

Two possible "Blue" items for the Weavers' Guild of St. Louis' May 20 meeting - this year's Challenge is something blue. These are layed out for blocking. The pale one is actually a pale blue. Yarn labels are below. (Calista was used for another item not shown - a crocheted scarf.)

This one is made from Classic Elite Yarns Fortuna, which is linen, rayon and cotton, made in Italy (a good source for good yarn). 164 yards per ball, using my favorite size 10 needles. The color is called "Petunia" - apparently this color is discontinued. This is 30 stitches across. Needs 2 balls for a good-sized scarf.
