Handknit Fashion Baskets - Donations to local charities

Image
I've been putting together "Handknit Fashion Baskets" to donate to several local charities, to use for raffle or silent auction items. The one pictured here will be a Raffle Item today at a fundraiser for Roosevelt High School Football Breakfasts (our local public high school). I've donated several others to local charities - to the MICA Project, Five Star Senior Center, and DeSales Community Development. I will also be donating one to a Rock & Roll BINGO fundraiser for Roosevelt High School's 100th Anniversary in 2025 (event to be held October 27). Sorting the items to put in each basket has been fun!

Recent items - mitered square (Noro yarn), crocheted potholder, crocheted scarf

Just-finished shawl & other items

Image
I just finished the above shawl. The yarn is alpaca, yak fiber and silk and has a nice dry touch. Also:  Recent item (closeup) knit in the "Porcupine" stitch, which actually looks more flower-like to me. It is reversible. And the items below are a recently completed baby blanket and hat knit for charity. The blanket is crocheted and the hat is knit in the "St. John's Wort" pattern.

Norah's Knits & Handcrafts will be selling at the Old North St. Louis House Tour & Arts Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16, 10-5. Should be a wonderful day. More info on House Tour tickets, etc., here: https://www.onsl.org/ ps - I heard that House Tour tickets come with a free scoop of ice cream at Crown Candy Kitchen. This neighborhood-wide house tour and arts festival will show off the warmth of the community, the richness and character of the architecture, the beauty of the community gardens and green spaces, public art, and the dynamic revitalization in progress. This year the big day is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00AM- 5:00PM and will include homes, gardens, murals, and a new arts installation at the Griot Museum on historic St. Louis Ave. In addition, an Arts Festival will be held in Crown Square with local artists, vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment.
